Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 48 (Nalakubara and Manigriva)

NALAKUBARA AND MANIGRIVA

Nalakubara and Maṇigriva were great devotees of Lord Śiva, but because of material opulence they became so extravagant and senseless that one day they were enjoying with naked girls in a lake and shamelessly walking here and there. Suddenly Nārada Muni passed by, but they were so maddened by their wealth and false prestige that even though they saw Nārada Muni present, they remained naked and were not even ashamed. In other words, because of opulence and false prestige, they lost their sense of common decency.

54 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 54)

RELIEVE OF DEBT/LIABILITY

Illaamai solli, oruvar thambaal senru, izhivubattu
nillaamai nensil ninaiguvirel, niththam needu thavam
kallaamai karra kayavar thambaal oru kaalaththilum
sellaamai vaiththa thiriburai paadhangal sermin_gale.

Poor people! Would you like preventing others to humiliate you, when you entreat them with your poverty and all, then contemplate on Goddess Abhirami, with all your heart. Bow down to her Lotus-feet. Surrender unto Abhirami, who has precluded me from mingling with uneducated and villainous people, who don't care to perform penance of any sort.

The 11th Dimension of Rudra

Anuvaka -11 – The force of Rudra on Apa (The base-pairs of DNA/The medium that makes it thrive)

This anuvaka invokes the eleventh dimension of Rudra, the force that creates and sustains Apa. It contains numbers 1 to 33 in steps of 1,3,5 to 33. It also contains numbers 4 to 48 in steps of 4,8,12 to 48. It seeks the blessings of Rudra on these numbers. Actually these numbers represent a polymer chain of molecules that form the Apa.

In this anuvaka, the Rishis want the force of the Rudra that influences the APA to come into the APA and influence it positively. They invoke the force of Rudra on the APA.

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 47 (Tying Krishna to the Mortar)

TYING KRISHNA TO THE MORTAR

Once, wishing to feed Krishna with butter, Yashoda began to churn milk in the morning . Very soon, Krishna too awakened and not finding the mother on her bed, He set out to search her. Soon He found her in the courtyard where she was churning the milk. He began to insist for breast feeding at once. So Yashoda stopped churning and began to breast feed Krishna. Affection played on her face. Suddenly the milk kept on the fire pot began to boil. Yashoda left Krishna in order to attend the boiling milk. But the unstiated Krishna filled with anger and broke the pitcher of curd. Then he went inside and began to eat butter, when Yashoda came back, she understood the matter and began to search him with a stick in her hand. After eating butter himself, Krishna was now feeding the monkeys with it. Seeing the mother come in hot pursuit, Krishna jumped over the mortar and ran away. Yashoda chased him, but soon felt tired because of her bulky body.

53 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 53)

TO EXPEL FALSEHOOD

sinnanj siriya marunginil saaththiya seyya pattum
pennam periya mulaiyum, muththaaramum, pichchi moyththa
kannangariya kuzhalum, kan moonrum, karuththil vaiththuth
thannandhani iruppaarkku, idhu polum thavam illaiye.

There is no better penance for the devotees of Goddess Abhirami than contemplating on the scarlet put on the slender waisted Abhirami, the pearl string on the divine big bosoms, her locks of hair with Pichchi flower and her three eyes (the third eye being spiritual enlightenment.

Chidambaram - The Cosmic Lingam

The myths and legends of Chidambaram state that Siva was compelled to continue his dance at Chidambaram, rather than in the Tarakam forest (Tarukavanam), because he could see that the original site could not sustain the powerful energies of the dance. Invoking a yogic parallel, he identified the snaking ida and pingala currents in the subtle body with geographical locations north and south of Chidambaram, and then said that the central channel [natuvinadi] passed directly through Tillai, making it the centre of the world and the site of the original cosmic lingam.

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 46 (Revelation of Cosmic Form)

REVELATION OF COSMIC FORM

One day, infant Krishna was playing with his friends, plucking fruits, cheated them and ate the fruits gathered by them. Angry with Thee, they went and complained to his mother that he ate mud. When the Supreme Personality of Godhead Krishna was so ordered by His mother, He immediately opened His mouth just like an ordinary boy. Then mother Yasoda saw within that mouth the complete opulence of creation. She saw the entire outer space in all directions, mountains, islands, oceans, seas, planets, air, fire, moon and stars. Along with the moon and the stars she also saw the entire elements, water, sky, the extensive ethereal existence along with the total ego and the products of the senses and the controller of the senses, all the demigods, the objects of the senses like sound, smell, etc., and the three qualities of material nature.

52 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 52)

Abhirami! you are the consort of the God, who wears the crescent moon on his head, and your devotee-sages have so much love for you and they worship your divine feet. The presence of your divine feet is denoted by the Temple Car (chariot), horse, amok-elephant, the crown studded with precious gems, palanquin, abundance of nugget and strings of rich pearls.

Eager to hear the tinkling sound of Thy anklet bells, on Thy lotus feet, the two of Thee, ankle trinkets tinkled pleasingly, and so to increase the pleasing sound Thou charmingly moved about with more briskness.

51 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 51)

OVERCOME DESIRE

Aranam porul enru, arul onru ilaadha asurar thangal
muran anru azhiya munindha pemmaanum, mugundhanume,
'saranam saranam' ena ninra naayagi than adiyaar,
maranam piravi irandum eydhaar, indha vaiyagaththe.

Without end those ogres thought,
Those three holy cities were,
And removed forever mercy from their heart,
But them defeated the gods Shiva and Vishnu,
And those gods cry to you for protection, Oh Abhirami.
So thine devotees, Oh mother,
Will neither die or be born in this earth,
Under this sky.
