Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 61 (Blessing the Wives of Brahmins)
BLESSING THE WIVES OF BRAHMINS
Sri Krishna accompanied by Balarama and the cowherd boys went far away from Brindavan. Some of the boys became hungry and approached Sri Krishna and said, "Hunger is oppressing us. Kindly find out some means to appease it." Sri Krishna said, "O friends! The Brahmins, versed in the Vedas, are performing a great sacrifice called Angirasa for the purpose of attaining Heaven in a place which is at a short distance from here. Go to their sacrificial hall. Take our names and ask them for food."

67 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 67)
DESTRUCTION OF ENEMIES

Abhirami! the people who don't sing your auspicious names, and people who don't meditate even for a second on your lightning-like radiant, gracious presence will consequently lose their benefits of charity, family glory, lineage, merits of learning, virtues and all these. Such evil people will beg for food house to house.

Srinivasa Gadyam
Sanskrit literary works are either in the form of gadyam (prose) or padyam
(poetry). Gadyam is written in prose style with alternate long and short
sentences with many adjectival phrases. Padyam is expressed in the form of
verses with four quarters (pAdam) usually and is marked by either the number
of syllables (aksharA-s) or the number of syllabic instants (mAtrA-s). Padyam
uses many metres and challenges the skill of the poets.
This Srinivasa Gadyam was composed by Sriman Srishaila Srirangacharyar. The last part of this gadyam starting with ragas and closing with mangalam are not found in the original source. The TTD Vedaparayanadar Sri P.V.Ananthasayanam Iyengar included it for recital.

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 60 (Stealing the Clothes)
STEALING THE CLOTHES
The cold season (Hemanta) set in. The girls of Nanda's Vraja observed a vow and worshipped Goddess Katyayani (Durga). They ate only the purest food. They prayed, "O Katyayani! O ruler of the universe, O great Goddess of wonderful Yogic powers! Let the son of Nanda be our husband. We bow to your feet." They observed the vow for a month. They took their bath every day in the river Yamuna in the early morning. One day, they left their clothes on the bank and went down into the river to bathe. They sang the praise of Krishna and sported in great joy in the river.

Smt.M.S.Subbulakshmi - The Goddess of Devotional Music
Often lay persons with no liking of classical music still play her devotional verses as an every morning ritual. The suprabhatams on the deities of Tirupati, Kasi, Rameshwaram and Kamakshi of Kanchi thrill pilgrims at dawn in temples from Kedarnath to Kanyakumari. In the midst of roadside blasts of film songs, if an occasional "Kaatrinile varum geetham" of "Chaakar rakho ji" come on, the pedestrian is arrested into paused listening. There are others who swear that listening to her recorded music helped them tide over troubled times, even traumas and tragedies. In this writer's personal experience, there was the instance of a dear friend, a Hyderabadi girl, who repeatedly asked for "any MS music" as she bravely faced death from third degree burns.

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 59 (Krishna Playing the Flute)
KRISHNA PLAYING THE FLUTE
The forest was lovely and charming on account of the autumn. The water was very clear. A gentle breeze was blowing. Sri Krishna with Balarama, cows and cowherd boys, entered the forest to enjoy the beauty of the scene. He began to play on His flute. The Gopis forgot themselves when they heard the music. The music of the flute steals the hearts of all. "When Sri Krishna plays on His enchanting flute, the peacocks dance in joy keeping tune with the music. They take the sound to be the mild roar of cloud. Hearing the music of the flute other animals stand motionless. Even the deer hear the music of the flute and make an offering of their loving glances. Even celestial women become absorbed in the music and lose their external consciousness. The cows drink the nectar of music with ears erect and stand motionless with tears of joy in their eyes. The calves eagerly listen to the music and stand with their mother's milk in their mouths. Even the birds sit high on trees and silently hear the enrapturing music of the flute. Even the whirlpools in the rivers show their strong desire to meet Sri Krishna. The rivers show their love to Sri Krishna. They stop their course to hear the sweet music of Krishna. With their arms of waves they throw offerings of lotuses and take hold of Sri Krishna's feet in order to embrace them. Look at the clouds in the sky. They spread themselves over Him like an umbrella. When He plays on the flute in the hot sun, they sprinkle on Him showers like offerings of tiny white flowers and thus offer themselves at the feet of Krishna. The Gopis used to forget themselves by describing the various sportful activities of Sri Krishna and singing them. They became merged in Krishna.

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 58 (Rescue from fire)
RESCUE FROM FIRE
Saving of Gopas and Gokula from forest fire in Brindavan.
In the evening, Krishna and Balarama, along with the boys and cows, returned to Vrndavana, playing their flutes. As they approached the village, the cows, being unobserved, began to wander off on their own, entering farther and farther into the deepest part of the forest, allured by fresh grasses. The goats, cows and buffalo traveled from one forest to another and entered the forest known as Isikatavi. This forest was full of green grass, and therefore they were allured; but when they entered, they saw that there was a forest fire, and they began to cry. On the other side, Balarama and Krsna, along with Their friends, could not find their animals, and they became very aggrieved. They began to trace the cows by following their footprints, as well as the path of eaten grass. All of the boys were fearing that their very means of livelihood, the cows, were now lost. Soon, however, they heard the crying of their cows.

64 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 64)

Goddess Abhirami! I seek and like no other gods who demand sacrificing of living creatures. Goddess Abhirami I love you only. Except the words praising your glories, I will never utter other words. Except the radiance from your physique, I don't see anything from sky, earth and four-directions.
