सृष्टि भेदाः
VARIETY OF CREATION

Oh Lord of Vaikunta ! Due to Thy blessing, God Brahma created varieties of beings, those that grow on earth and are non-moving like trees etc., as well as the moving, like animals of human beings and the various gods like yaksha ,Kinnara in order to provide bodies for all the Jivas who takebirth according to their past Karmas.

Brahma then created the five-fold effects of ignorance i.e."false apprehension", Egoism, attachment, anger and fear. . Having created these extremely negative qualities, later he repented for creating these qualities and contemplated upon the Lord for purification.

Dasakam: 010 -- Shlokam: 03
तावत् ससर्ज मनसा सनकं सनन्दं

Then Brahma created out of his mind, the four sages, Sanaka, Sananda, Sanatanaand Sanatkumara. Although he asked them to carry on the work of creation, But these sages were solely devoted to the worship of the Supreme Lord.

Dasakam: 010 -- Shlokam: 04

Lord Brahma got angry and from between the eyebrows, RUDRA came. who was a part of Thine ownself. Mrida cried out to Brahma to provide him with names and abodes. Thus Mrida came to be known as Rudra. or one who came from tears.

Dasakam: 010 -- Shlokam: 05

Brahmaa then prompted by Thee, gave Rudra eleven names and gave as many wives and an equal number of places. Then he kindly requested him to help in the creative process

Rudra's creations were frightful and he was asked to stop creation and concentrate on penance for the welfare of the world.

Dasakam: 010 -- Shlokam: 07

Brahma again started the work of creation. Thereafter, from the body of Brahma, ten great sages were born Marichi, Atri, Angiras, Kratu, Pulaha, Pulasthya, Bhrigu, Vasishta, Daksha and Narada. Among them Narada was an ardent devotee of Thy lotus feet.

Brahma then created Dharmadeva, Kardama, Saraswathi and others. Brahma was infatuated by love at the sight of Saraswathi . He was then overcome with desire for her, his own creation. He also brought out the Vedas and the Puranas and taught them to his sons. However, prompted by Thee, Sanaka Daksha and his other sons enlightened him and he gave up desire born of ignorance.

Dasakam: 010 -- Shlokam: 09

Brahmaa then brought out the Vedas and all the Puraanas and all the other branches of learning, from his four faces and taught them to his sons. He then found himself unable to further the process of creation and so he took refuge at Thy lotus feet.

As he was not able to continue further 'creation', he meditated upon the lord. Wisdom dawned on him and he symbolically divided his body into two halves i.e. the "MALE" concept and the "FEMALE" concept.  From the Male concept emerged the first man in the world, SWAYAMBHUVA MANU and from the female concept sprung the first woman in the world, SATARUPA. They were the first man and woman who multiplied the species of man to its present level of population explosion.

"O Lord of Guruvayoor," concludes the author of "Narayaneeyam" at the end of the 10th Dasaka, Guruvayurappa ! Oh Thou who multiplies the human race ! Thus, please save me from all my affliction.
