16 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 16)

TO OBTAIN CHRONOVISION (The ability to see the past, present, and future)

Kiliye, kilainyar manaththe kidandhu kilarndhu olirum
oliye, olirum olikku idame, ennil onrum illaa
veliye, veli mudhal poodhangal aagi virindha amme!-
aliyen arivu alavirku alavaanadhu adhisayame.

Mother Abhirami! Like a parrot you speak beautiful language. You remain as concentration and enlightenment of the minds of your devotees who are your kith and kin. You are the source of light that brightens the world. On deeper scrutiny , it is clear that you are incomparable with your vast cosmos where there is nothing. All the same, it is quite amazing that I am able to realize you with my little knowledge.

The Power of Uchchishta

Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodhendra Saraswati Swamigal
Purushothaman was born in Kanchipuram to pious parents and even as a child, was given in service to the then pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt.  He had great love towards his Guru and served him with all faith and sincerity. Later his Guru gave him the sanyasa name of Sri Bhagavan Nama Bodhendra Saraswati Swamigal.

Sri Bodhendra travelled to various villages spreading the greatness of Rama nama (Taraka mantra). Once He went to a village called Perambur near Raja Mannargudi. There he was invited by a couple to their house for bhiksha (partaking food). He initiated them with ‘Rama’ nama and then agreed to visit their house. All arrangements were made in the house for the arrival of Swamiji. The host had a 5 year old son who was deaf and dumb since birth. Since all the householders were busy carefully preparing for Swamiji’s arrival, the child was not fed anything since the morning. He was starving.

15 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 15)

TO ATTAIN WEALTH AND BLISS

Thannalikku enru, munne pala kodi thavangal seyvaar,

vin alikkum selvamum azhiyaa muththi veedum, anro?-
pan alikkum sol parimala yaamalaip paingiliye!

Abhirami! Your devotees are gods, heavenly beings, angels and giants. Meditating on you are the quadri-headed Brahma and Vishnu. You are tethered by the ecstatic Shiva with the rope of affection. In this world, you bless only the people who are devoted to you. Your grace is quite amazing.

Abhirami Andhadhi & Soundarya Lahari - a comparison

Once Adi Shankara visited Kailash to worship Shiva and Parvathi. There, the Lord gave him a manuscript containing 100 verses which described the many facets of the Goddess, as a gift to him. While Shankara was returning after visiting Kailash, Nandi stopped him on the way. He snatched the manuscript from him, tore it into two, took one part and gave the other to Shankara. Shankara, desolate, ran to Shiva and narrated the incident to him. Shiva, smiling, commanded him to retain the 41 verses with him as the initial part of the 100 verses and then, write an extra 59 verses in praise of the Goddess himself. Thus, verses 1 - 41 are the original work of Lord Shiva, shedding great light on the ancient rituals of Tantra, Yantra and various powerful Mantras. The remaining verses, i.e. 42-100 are composed by Adi Shankara himself, which mainly focuses on the appearance of the Goddess. All the 100 verses are collectively known as 'Soundarya Lahari'.

14 (Abhirami Andhadhi - Verse 14)

TO ATTAIN CHIEFDOM

Vandhippavar unnai, vaanavar thaanavar aanavargal;
sindhippavar, naldhisaimugaa naaranar; sindhaiyulle

Abhirami you are the full blossomed flower! You have created all the fourteen worlds and similarly you protect them also. You are elder to the Blue -Necked Shiva and you are younger sister to the Ever-Youthful Vishnu. You have done great penance. Would it be proper to accept any other god?

Narayaneeyam - Dasakam: 8 (The Deluge)

THE DELUGE

Before creation took place we had a concept of TIME, as it is computed in our Puranas.  360 human years constitute one year for the Gods (Divine year or "Divya Varsha").  12,000 such divine years form a "Chatur Yuga"or "Maha Yuga" A "Chatur Yuga" or "Mahayuga"consists of four Yugas (ages) put together. The four yugas are: Krita Yuga--4800 divine years,Treta Yuga--3600 divine years, Dwapara Yuga--2400 divine years and Kali Yuga--1200 divine years.  Total = 12,000 divine years with 43,20,000 human years. 71 such Maha Yugas/Chatur Yugas make a "MANVANTARA".  14 such Manvantaras are clubbed together to form a "KALPA".  We are today living in the seventh Manvantara, known as "Vaivaswata Manvantara".  The 14 Manvantaras that go into the making of a Kalpa constitute just one day for Brahma. Brahma is our mythological God of creation. At the end of his day, Brahma goes to sleep during his night.  His night extends for the same period as his day, i.e. the same time for a Kalpa.  During this night, there is no 'creation' activity and it is called a "Naimittika Pralaya". Brahma gets up again for his next day or Kalpa. 360 such days or Kalpas of Brahma make one year for him.  In this manner a Brahma lives for his 100 years.

Before Creation started, there was Mahapralaya or the Great Deluge. During this period, there was no Universe.  At the end of the Pralaya lasting for 100 years of Brahma, there was a will for Creation.

Narmada Banalingam

Sri Brahadheeswarar - Thanjavur Big Temple (One of the biggest banalingam)

The Bana Lingam is a most Sacred Symbol and Divine Energy Tool, both in the ancient and in this modern world and it comes with the loftiest frequency of vibrations (compared to any stone on Earth) and appears from only one place on the entire Planet of Earth - in the cradles of Holy River Narmada. The Bana Lingas are Swayambhu Shiva Lingas that have taken shape in the Sacred Narmada River, in the Central Western part of India. This is why the Bana Lingams are also known as the Narmada Banalingas or Narmadeshwar Shiva Lingas.

The Sacred Narmada River is one of the Sapta Gangas - Seven Holy Rivers of India. The Hindustani Legends identify it with “Reva” of epic celebrity, which is described as the “sweat” flowing out of Lord Shiva’s own body when he performed his Cosmic Dance “Thandhava” and therefore considered as holiest of rivers. It’s waters are of such purifying quality that the polluted River Ganges makes an yearly visit to the Narmada in the form of a black cow or a dark woman for a purifying dip in the Sacred Narmada River, to cleanse her collected sins ! On the river bank of the Narmada is the Omkareshwar, the most famous among the twelve Jyothirlingas.
